This spring Duo NIHZ releases two specials projects: A book and 3 CD's with the Music of Rob Heilbut which he composed during the Shoah. The other projects are the 46 Poems which Phida Wolff write in the Second world war during his forced labour which Duo NIHZ has set to music. These 46 peoms will be released in 2 different box-sets of each 3 CD's: one box-set sung in German language and one box-set sung in in Dutch language.

Duo NIHZ is currently working on 4 other recording-projects:
1. A CD with classical music arrangements by Bobby Rootveld
2. A CD with brand new compositions specially composed for and dedicated to Duo NIHZ by Annette Kruisbrink, Theo Willemze, Jan Bijkerk, Jim ten Boske, Nikita Koshkin, Daniel Akiva, Louis Ignatius Gall , Richard Vaghan and others.
3. A CD with new Yiddish songs composed by Bobby Rootveld
4. A second CD with Baruch Chauskin

Dieses Frühjahr veröffentlicht das Duo NIHZ zwei besondere Projekte: Ein Buch und 3 CD's mit der Musik von Rob Heilbut, die er während der Shoah komponiert hat. Das andere Projekt sind die 46 Gedichte, die Phida Wolff im Zweiten Weltkrieg während seiner Zwangsarbeit schrieb und die das Duo NIHZ vertont hat. Diese 46 Gedichte werden in 2 verschiedenen Box-Sets mit je 3 CDs veröffentlicht: ein Box-Set gesungen in deutscher Sprache und ein Box-Set gesungen in niederländischer Sprache.

Biography:
Together Bobby Rootveld (guitar, percussion and vocals) and Sanna van Elst (recorders and vocals) formed Duo NIHZ in 2001. This duo from The Netherlands is currently based in Germany. Next to the traditional classical repertoire Duo NIHZ specializes in music mixed with theatre and comedy, Klezmer, Yiddish songs, and the restauration of music composed during the Shoah. Numerous composers composed especially for Duo NIHZ including Nikita Koshkin, Richard Vaughan, Annette Kruisbrink, Gianmartino Maria Durighello, Fred Rootveld, Louis Ignatius Gall, Stefan Grasse, Jim ten Boske, Nutavut Ratanakarn and Jan Bijkerk. Duo NIHZ collaborates with other artists like storytellers (Loek Boer, Benjamin Stedler), guitarist Alberto Mesirca, chazan Baruch Chauskin and saxophonist Gergö Pazmandi. Duo NIHZ performed in numerous countries and on special location and festivals including: The Concertgebouw of Amsterdam, The Rundetaarn in Copenhagen, The Portugese Synagogue of Amsterdam, The Taj Concert Hall in Thimpu Bhutan, Kolkata Classical Guitar Festival in India, Thailand Guitar Festival in Bangkok, Mottola Guitar Festival in Italy, Jewish Galicia Museum in Krakow Poland and in numerous of other synagogues, churches and festivals and concerthalls in Holland, China, HongKong, Malaysia, Switzerland, Argentina, Germany, Israel, Greece, Denmark, Hungary, Italy, Slovakia, Poland, India, Bhutan, Thailand, England, France etc. Duo NIHZ released several cd’s and dvd’s. In 2009 Duo NIHZ received a special 'Certificate of Acknowledgement' during the International Jewish Music Festival of Amsterdam. In January 2011 Duo NIHZ opened it’s own concert hall in Nordhorn, Germany: www.kulturhausnihz.de . Kulturhaus NIHZ contains Europe's biggest classical guitar library-and research archive including sheet-music, cd's and lp's. Bobby and Sanna are also the founders of the Guitar Festival Nordhorn, Gall Guitar Symposium and Recorder Festival Nordhorn. Bobby Rootveld also takes care of the musical legacy including compositions and the archive of the great late classical guitarist and composer Maestro Louis Ignatius Gall. Bobby also used to be the chairman and is a founding member of the Twents Gitaar Festival (Netherlands) and the Valais Guitar Week (Switzerland). Bobby Rootveld works also as a stand-up comedian in the Netherlands and is founder and executive producer of the record label Samsong Productions. Both musicians are teaching for the Israel Conservatory of Music in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Jewish Music connection Duo NIHZ:
Duo NIHZ has an extremely strong connection to Jewish Music. Bobby's grandfather was Jewish. He was the only surviving member of his family in the Shoah.
This off course played a big part in the desire to play Jewish music. It is not just playing music, it is dedicating Duo NIHZ' music to the Jewish history, the sunny and dark sides.
Music is their way to get 'in touch' with their own background and honouring this background.

Biografie:
Bobby Rootveld (Gitarre, Gesang, Perkussion) und Sanna van Elst (Gesang, Blockflöten, Melodica) spielen seit 2001 zusammen unter dem Namen Duo NIHZ. Das Duo gab mehr als 1500 Konzerte in mehr als 35 Ländern. Ihr Repertoire enthält Werke aus verschiedenen Epochen: Renaissance, Barock, Romantik, Avant-Garde und aus verschiedenen Kulturen: Jazz, Pop, Rock, spanische Musik und World Music. Seit einigen Jahren ist jüdische Musik der besondere Schwerpunkt von diesem Duo: Klezmer, jiddische Lieder und vor allem Musik aus dem Holocaust. Die Musik des Duo NIHZ ist auch in der Bibliothek von Yad Vashem präsent. Die Erforschung der Holocaust-Musik ist ein wichtiger Bestandteil der Arbeit des Duo NIHZ. Das Duo NIHZ arbeitet eng mit mehreren KZ-Archiven, Forschungseinrichtungen und Musikhochschulen zusammen. 2009 hat Duo NIHZ beim International Jewish Music Festival einen Music Award erhalten. Die Klezmer-Kompositionen, klassische Musik mit jüdischen Themen und jiddische Lieder, die Bobby Rootveld komponiert, werden weltweit von Musikern gespielt und gesungen. Duo NIHZ spielt auch oft zusammen mit dem Gitarristen Alberto Mesirca, dem Gitarristen/Sänger Jerry Silverman, den Kantor/Chazan Baruch Chauskin, die Rocksängerin Dilana Smith und dem Saxophonist Gergö Pázmándi. Bobby Rootveld spielt Savarez-Saiten und eine Gitarre von Sergey Samoilov. Das Duo NIHZ entwickelte auch Workshops für alle Altersgruppen zum Judentum, zur Aufarbeitung des Holocaust und zur Antisemitismusprävention. Mit diesen Workshops besuchen sie Schulen, Kirchen und Vereine in Deutschland. Es gibt viele CDs und DVDs und Dokumentarfilme von Duo NIHZ. Seit 2010 sind die beiden Mitglieder von Duo NIHZ verheiratet und leben in Deutschland. Hier haben sie einen eigenen Konzertsaal, Gallerie und Kurszentrum eröffent: Kulturhaus NIHZ.
