The Louis Ignatius Gall Foundation with its publishing house Elgo Production is proud to publish the book and CD about Rob Heilbut in co-operation with Samsong Productions and Duo NIHZ.
Duo NIHZ (Bobby Rootveld and Sanna van Elst) has spent an intensive 10 years researching the life and music of Rob Heilbut.
Rob Heilbut is a Dutch-Jewish composer from Amsterdam who was murdered in the Holocaust: He wrote 36 songs about the Holocaust during the Holocaust: lyrics and sheet music. His music was never recorded or published in its entirety. Duo NIHZ has spent more than a decade researching his life and music on 4 continents, restoring and recording the music and reconstructing Heilbut's life story. The lyrics and music are of high quality and it is the largest collection of Dutch Jewish music with lyrics from the Holocaust.
Heilbut describes life and experiences in Amsterdam, the Westerbork concentration camp and the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. The songs are tragic, but sometimes also tragicomic and deal with Jewish life, the war, the Judenrat, camp life, fears, hopes and how to keep courage.
For this book and the CD, research was carried out in archives, museums and books and interviews were conducted with Holocaust survivors such as Hetty Verolme, Ro Horneman, Ernst Verduin, Ester Debora Reiss, Mirjam Bolle and others.
The result is a book in three languages: Dutch, English and German. In it you will find the life story and all the restored, complete sheet music with lyrics. There is also an accompanying triple CD with all the songs, played and sung by the duo NIHZ with the participation of Ljova, Martin Sterken, Gal Klein, Gergely Pazmandi and Ellen Zijm.
The book costs 25 euros.
The triple CD costs 20 euros.
Together they cost 40,- Euro.
This does not include shipping costs.
