Soloplayers and ensembles in different categories can compete in the competition of Recorder Festival Nordhorn.

In every category there will be a first, second and third prize.

 

Prizes and categories of the competition:

 

Category 1: Conservatorystudents and professionals (only solo-players)

1st Prize: A Mollenhauer Soprano, Barock Modell, Denner, Grenadill 447,00 Euro  + a cd-recording and release on a classical label + a package with recordercd’s and sheet music +  a concert during the next Tel Aviv Recorder Festival + a concert during the next Recorder Festival Nordhorn + a collector's item wrist watch from the 70's, NOS condition.

 

Category 2: Amateurs up from 15 years (only solo-players)

1st Prize: An Aafab Recorder Voucher worth 500,- Euro + a package with recordercd’s and sheet music + 1 Masterclass for free at Recorder Festival Nordhorn 2021. 

Piano Accompaniment is allowed.

 

Category 3: Amateurs up to 14 years (solo-players and ensembles)

1st Prize: A big package with recordercd’s and sheet music + 1 Masterclass for free at Recorder Festival Nordhorn 2021

Piano Accompaniment is allowed.

Category 4: Composition Competition

This category only has a 1st Prize.

1st Prize: Your composition will be published by Edition Tre Fontane and recorded and released on cd by an artist on the Samsong Productions label.

Category 5: Ensemble Competition

1st Prize: A package with ensemble sheet music + a cd-single recording and release on a classical label + 2 Masterclasses for free at Recorder Festival Nordhorn 2021.

 

Special prizes:

- 1 year membership of recordermagazine Blokfluitist.

 

In every category there is also a 2nd and 3rd prize: A package with recordercd’s and sheet music. 

In Category 4 there is only a 1st Prize and no 2nd and 3rd Prize.

 

Participation Fee

 

Participation fee in the competition category 1 + A ticket for the concerts on sunday: 35,- Euro for every participant.

Participation fee in the competition category 2 and 3 + A ticket for the concert on saturday: 25,- Euro for every participant.

Participation fee in the competition category 4 + A ticket for the concerts on sunday: 35,- Euro for every participant.

Participation fee in the competition Category 5 + A ticket for the concert on saturday: 25,- Euro for every participant.

COMPETITION 2020

THE COMPETITION
By entry every participant declares to agree with:
- the regulations of this competition
- the decisions of the jury
- the directions of the administration of the competition
 

GENERAL

1. The competition is organised by “Kulturhaus NIHZ”.

2. The management rests with the executive committee of this organisation and the administration of the competition.

3. Participation is open to recorder-players of all countries. Entry is possible in one of the following categories:

 

Category 1: 

Conservatorystudents and professionals (only solo-players, no accompaniment is allowed: no tape, no harpsichord, no piano etc.). No age limit.

15 minutes, free choice of repertoire. 

This category is intended for conservatory students and professional solo-players.  

The competition is to be held on 23 February 2020 at Kulturhaus NIHZ.

Category 2:

Amateurs up from 15 years (only solo-players, accompaniment is allowed).

8 minutes, free choice of repertoire. 

The competition is to be held on 22 February 2020 at Kulturhaus NIHZ.

Category 3: 

Amateurs up to 14 years (solo-players and ensembles, accompaniment is allowed) 

8 minutes, free choice of repertoire.

This category is intended for solo-players up to 14 years old.  

The competition is to be held on 22 February 2020 at Kulturhaus NIHZ.

Category 4:

This category is intended for composers and aspiring composers who can send their recorder related composition.
The competition is to be held on 23 February 2020 at Kulturhaus NIHZ

Category 5:

No age limit.

- Recorder consorts from 2 recorder players and up

- Mixed ensembles: duo's, trio's, quartets, quintets and above should have at least 1 recorder player

- Performing with a conductor is allowed

15 minutes, free choice of repertoire.

The competition is to be held on 23 February 2020 at Kulturhaus NIHZ

1. The competition consists of one round in each category.
2. The competition is to be held on 22 and 23 February 2020.
3.  Exceeding the time limits will lead to disqualification. 
4.  The order of performers during the competition will be determined by the administration of the competition.
5. Each participant will receive a certificate of participation. 
6. There can be no discussion or correspondence about the jury’s judgment.
7. Each competitor is to announce the compositions (s)he will play himself (herself).

8. When registering as a competitor in every category you should state: composer(s), name of piece(s) and exact playing time. 9. The jury will strictly adhere to the maximum playing time allowed. 
10. In each category the first, second and third place will get a prize. In Category 4 there is only a first prize.
11. The administration of the competition determines the maximum number of participating recorder players in each category and in the competition as a whole.
12. The competition is open to public.
13. Those whose entry has been accepted will be duly informed when they are to perform.
14. If a recorder player is not present in due time he will be excluded from further participation without remittance of the entrance-fee.
15. Deadline for application: the 14th of February 2020.
16. The application form will not be registered until the registration fee has been received.
17. Only 50% of the registration fee will be refunded if a participant decides not to take part after all and cancels before the 15th of January 2020.
18. If a participant cancels participation after the 15th of January 2020 no registration fees will be refunded.
19. The administration of the competition can refuse an application.
20. In Category 1 (conservatory students and professionals) participant should bring/send 2 copies of their competition-programme sheet music to Kulturhaus NIHZ for the administration of the competition. If you bring the sheet-music it must be handed over to the administration of the competition before 10.00 h. on the 23rd of March 2020 in a sealed enveloppe with participants name + programme written on the enveloppe. Please note: Scanned documents by email will not be accepted. Only copied sheet music send by normal post is valid for the competition.
22. In Category 4, the composition competition,  participant should send by post before the 10th of February 2020 3 copies of his/her composition. The art of the composition is completely free as long as there is at least one recorder involved. The composition can be for solo, duo, ensemble with one recorder, multiple recorders or recorder in combination with other instrument(s)/voice(s). A jury of recorder players, musicians and composers will study the pieces during the Recorder Festival Nordhorn and select a winner. The winner will be announced during the ceremony after the final concert on the 23rd of February 2020. Participants of Category 4 are welcome to visit the festival but this is not obligated for participation in Category 4. Please note: Scanned documents by email will NOT be accepted.

23. In Category 2 and 3 piano accompaniment is allowed. A pianist is available for an additional 20,- Euro. Sheet music to be sent by normal post before 1 Febuary 2020.
 

RECORDINGS AND BROADCASTS:

 

“Kulturhaus NIHZ” is entitled to make audio and visual recordings of the competition and arrange broadcasts and distribute without any remuneration to the recorder players concerned.

 

REMAINING REGULATIONS:

 

In any situation that is not covered by these regulations the administration of the competition decides.
